此剧所讲述的是发生在清末及民国时期的一段传奇故事。剧情大纲以寻找十八位将军金颅为主要线索。传说中的十八金颅故事是，三国时期以关羽为首的十八位将军战败于东吴后，头颅均被孙权割下献与曹操，后孙权心生悔意，为对天下交代，也为安抚十八位将军之英魂，令天下能工巧匠以纯金铸造十八颗金颅与尸身一同下葬。打开墓穴的钥匙是一对赤兔玉马，这批传说中价值连城的宝物引起了无数人的觊觎，明争暗夺、腥风血雨，上溯至两代人之间展开，伴随着恩怨情仇纠缠期间，但最终为了民族大义，冤家又变成了朋友，一起并肩作战。剧情悬念重重、柳暗花明，集武打、推理及感情戏于一身，且具有很多搞笑元素。。In 1965, Bob Crane, who had achieved some earlier success as a television supporting actor, was working as a successful morning radio DJ at KNX Los Angeles.
